The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Despite being released in 2011, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim still continues to have a dedicated fan base today. It is primarily set in a snowy fantasy world full of magical creatures and dangerous landscapes. The player takes the role of the Dragonborn, who must decide the fate of the realm.

Magic

Since this is a fantasy game, magic plays a crucial role in Skyrim. Numerous spells can be learned. These can be used to summon creatures, attack enemies or heal wounds. As the player progresses, their magic grows in power.

The Player’s Actions

Throughout the story, the player is given several different choices. Their decisions will affect the fates of several characters. These choices can include who to side with during a civil war, and whether to fight for the forces of good or evil.

Stormcloaks or Imperials

At the start of the game, the player finds themselves in the middle of a conflict between two sides. One is the Stormcloaks, a group of rebels who are local to the area. The other is the Imperials who control the land, ruling with an iron fist. The Dragonborn must interact with each side and pick one which they want to win. They then fight alongside this faction, shaping the future of the world.

Vampires and Werewolves

The core game is excellent on its own. However, it was made even better with the introduction of expansion packs. One of these allows the player to become a vampire and live in an eerie castle with other creatures of the night.

However, they can also decide to become a vampire slayer and join the Dawnguard. This is a group who dedicate their lives to destroying evil. A third option is to transform into a werewolf, which is the sworn enemy of the vampires.
